University of the Ryukyus Collaboration Background with Kabul University

Since 2011, University of the Ryukyus (Okinawa, Japan) has remained an outstanding collaborator to Afghanistan in different fields. Besides graduation of tens of Afghan students from various field at Master and PhD. levels from this university, its academic and researches collaborations remains remarkable. The first International Exchange Agreement, between Engineering Faculties of University of the Ryukyus and Kabul University was signed on 19 April 2017. This formal agreement has been based on a foundation of mutual trust established to promote further exchange of students, faculty, and staff in order to advance scientific research, education, and cultural understanding between Japan and Afghanistan; as well as to contribute to the mutual benefit and development of the two faculties under these themes:

  • Exchange of students
  • Exchange of faculty and staff members
  • Exchange of academic materials, publications, and information
  • Joint hosting of seminars, conferences, and symposia 
  • Joint research
  • Other academic exchanges

Continuing this collaboration mutual benefits, once again Engineering Faculties of University of the Ryukyus and Kabul University enter into another agreement of exchange collaboration on 9th June 2018, to empower the Engineering Faculty, Kabul University lecturers and eminent students for success in the future scientific knowledge and research methodology. As great opportunities exist in the field of energy and power system at University of the Ryukyus. Whit primary goals and objectives as follows:

  • To establish a new strategic partnership between the parties and maintain continuity of past collaborations.
  • To gain mutual benefits of available exchange opportunities.
  • To increase Engineering Faculties (of the parties) lecturers and researchers’ academic researches capability, hereafter referred to as “KU Team (Kabul University, Engineering Faculty); and UR Team (University of the Ryukyus, Engineering Faculty).
  • To research on two relevant topics related to energy and power system, and have two academic publications at high-ranking journals within a year.
  • To organize a joint conference in order to share knowledge and get familiar with parties for future academic exchanges.
  • To promote inter-faculties connections to increase awareness and use of available knowledge exchanges that encourage the Afghan’s students to study in Japan in order to be benefited from extraordinary researches experiences.

Following mutual opportunities, technically, the SODC-2019 is fully sponsored under this exchange collaboration. In which, Dr. Mir Sayed Shah DANISH facilitates this endeavor that backed by direct support of Prof. Tomonobu SENJYU, Prof. Toshihisa FUNABASHI, Prof. Naomitsu URASAKI, Asst. Prof. Atsushi Yona, and their post-graduate students.
