The SODC 2020 was successfully held: A message from the Conference Manager
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adaption models and scenarios are interlinkage efforts, which connected in some way to transform the world and secure societies’ resiliency. Conceptualization of optimal models and scenarios requires impactful global endeavors to outreach viable sustainability. Deployment of interdisciplinary themes based on decent research, modern technologies, and innovative approves are necessary actions to put forward. Assessing alternative paths to the SDGs by implying potential synergies of incorporated multidimensional themes in terms of validating of finding and responsiveness are known exigence.
International Conference Series on: Sustainability Outreach in Developing Countries (SODC) 2020 is a peer-reviewed conference that emanates recent researches based on an exhaustive topic of the day “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”. This conference establishes interdisciplinary coverage of sustainability and argues its pillars (environmental, technical and technological, social, institutional, and economic disciplinaries) for long-run sustainability.
The SODC-2020 calls for transboundary researches, experiences, case studies, and lessons learned to cover conceptual and empirical research contributions within the scope of this conference. Prof. Tomonobu Senjyu
University of the RyukyusProfessor Tomonobu Senjyu was born in Saga Prefecture, Japan, in 1963. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from University of the Ryukyus, Nishihara, Japan, in 1986 and 1988, respectively; and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan, in 1994. He is currently a Full Professor with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, University of the Ryukyus. He is an active scholar that runs and manage smoothly the industry by graduating theoretical and practical human resource. He has supervised tens of Ph.D. dissertations since 2004. His students are actively involved in the industry and academic fields throughout the world. He is leading the Power Energy System Control Laboratory (PESC) that demonstrates with recent technology and novel research outcomes. His laboratory publishes several peer-review journals each year. He has more than 500 peer-review publications in the high-ranking academic databases. His editorial contribution has been salient with many international journals. His nonstop support contributes to humanitarian and enhances academic affairs. Most of his students are from developing countries that pursue their studies under the Japan government scholarships. His research interests are in the areas of renewable energy, power system optimization and operation, power electronics, and advanced control of electrical machines.

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia | Director: Process Systems Engineering Centre (UTM-PROSPECT)Prof Ir Dr Sharifah Rafidah Wan Alwi, P.B.S., CEng, MIChemE, MIEM, REEM, CEM, is the Director of Process Systems Engineering Centre of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Sharifah has been extensively involved in 67 research projects, 24 industrial based projects for various companies and government agencies and has trained engineers from more than 200 companies in the field of sustainable engineering design and management. She specialises in process systems engineering with emphasis on resource conservation. She has won numerous awards such as Top Research Scientists Malaysia 2018, Malaysia Research Star Award 2019, 2018 and 2016, ASEAN-US Science Prize for Women 2016 in Energy Sustainability, National Young Scientist Award 2015, ASEAN Young Scientist and Technologist Award 2014, IChemE Highly Commended Sir Frederick Warner Prize 2011 and Green Talents 2009. She is currently the Associate Editor for Journal of Cleaner Prodution (Q1) and Editorial Board member for Applied Thermal Engineering Journal (Q1). She has filed 15 patents (1 granted), 25 copyrights and developed 5 software products. She is the co-founder of UTM Spin-off company called Optimal Systems Engineering Sdn Bhd (OPTIMISE). She has also served as the Chairman for Malaysia IChemE Young Engineer Group (YEG) and is a member of Young Scientist Network, Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM) and Persatuan Saintis Muslim Malaysia (PERINTIS).

University of the RyukyusProfessor Toshihisa FUNABASHI received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Nagoya University, Aichi, Japan, in 1975. He received the Doctor degree in electrical engineering from Doshisha University, Kyoto, Japan, in 2000. In 1975, he joined Meidensha Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, where he had been engaged in research on power system analysis and also distributed generation applications in power systems. From April 2014, he was a professor of IMaSS, Nagoya University, Aichi, Japan. Since April 2018, he is a visiting professor at University of the Ryukyus, Okinawa, Japan. His current interests are operation and control of power systems with renewable energy sources, and optimization of generation, transmission, and distribution systems considering large integration of renewable energy sources and power electricity markets. He has published over 100 journal papers and over 150 international conference papers in these technical areas. Prof. Funabashi is a Chartered Engineer in the U.K, a member of IET, a senior member of IEEE and a senior member of IEE Japan. Academic press has published his book titled “Integration of Distributed Energy Resources in Power Systems, -Implementation, Operation and Control-” in March, 2016.

Meio UniversityFathelalem Ali is a professor of information science at the department of management and information science of Meio University, Japan. He acquired his doctoral degree in Complex Intelligent Systems Engineering from University of the Ryukyus, Japan, and has devoted himself for higher education work and research for over 20 years. His education field includes computational intelligence, information and data communications technology. Prof. Ali’s research interests include concepts of information, ICT, data science and their usability in the Internet and interdisciplinary real world.

University of the RyukyusDr. Danish has remained an engineering and technology expert, as well as an academician for several years. He is the author of several academic and technical textbook, books, guidebooks, and training manuals. That enabled him to link well industry with academic, and recognized him to receive several awards and appreciations. Since 2004, Dr. Danish has been involved in the industry of multidisciplinary engineering and technology fields by leading several projects; also he remains an active scholar and educator. He is an Assistant Professor at University of the Ryukyus, Japan; Founder and Chair of IEEE-Sustainable Energy and Intelligent Engineering Society (SEIES-PES & FRID joint chapter), Founder and Facilitator for Rahkaar IET On-Campus Society. He worked with different national and international organizations/companies as an urban electric power planner, team leader, technical advisor, project manager, and director. He is a C.Eng. (Chartered Engineer, UK), Senior Member of IEEE, MIET Member of IET, and other academic societies. He received bachelor in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (BSc. 2009, Kabul University, Afghanistan); double master degrees, in Energy and Electrical Engineering (MSc. 2015, University of the Ryukyus, Japan), Business Administration (MBA. 2016, National Institute of Business Management, India); and doctorate in Sustainable Energy (Dr. Eng. 2018, University of the Ryukyus, Japan). He chaired and has been a committee member of several conferences and symposiums. He had more than 50 academic and technical publications.

Workshops are designed for learning and development students and early careering who want to leverage the latest in research methodologies, technology innovations, and advanced revolutions of the century to improve personal and professional performance. Numbers of Professional Workshops are planned for SODC 2020. These training courses are offered by industry leaders and are suitable for industry managers and engineers as well as researchers and students. They will be held Saturday, 30 May; Sunday, 31 May as part of the main conference from 02:00 PM-04:30 PM. Topics and contents will be announced later.
All conference registrants are welcome to attend the tutorials at no additional charge. Tutorials are expected to be up to 100 minutes in duration and are scheduled in parallel with the conference technical sessions on Sunday, 31 May, 2020.
